Drilling jars

Drilling jars are downhole tools placed in the drill string, designed to release stuck pipes by delivering controlled impacts. They can generate upward (up jarring) or downward (down jarring) blows, which help free the drill string and other equipment. There are two main types of jars: • Hydraulic jars, which use fluid resistance and timed activation to deliver strong, consistent impacts, making them especially effective in sensitive operations. • Mechanical jars, which are activated through applied tension or compression from the drill string, offering a simpler design and high reliability in various drilling conditions.
